Wagner Banning introduced the axial closed-die process over 20 years ago. Since that time, this process has been on the leading edge of technology. Our customers never seem to stop finding innovative ways to use it!
Axial closed-die rolling is a modern forging technology which is particularly suited for the manufacture of circular parts. It combines the proven advantages of closed-die forging and rolling in a combined forming process. The inclined upper die and the lower die move at the same speed as the two dies come together under pressure. The result is an incremental semiclosed-die process that yields superior part tolerances and surface finish at only 5-20 % of conventional forging tonnage.
Axial closed-die rolling has applications for a wide variety of different parts. See below for specific material types. |
