Clamping
and Releasing |
Clamping
and releasing of the feed rolls is electropneumatically controlled.
When a new bar comes along, the operator presses a button on the control
desk to open the first pair of rolls, letting the bar enter freely
and catch up with the preceding one. This happens automatically in
installations equipped with the ESA control unit. |
Pressure |
The
feed roll clamping pressure can be adjusted according to bar stock
diameter and material grade to prevent marring of the metal and to
avoid slipping in the case of large diameters. |
Squeeze |
|
The rolls' squeeze
on the bar stock provides an added bonus: it de-scales the metal.
The bars are almost scale-free as they enter the machine. And any
remaining scale flakes off in the shearing and squaring-up operations.
In the event
of a machine stoppage, the operator can run the bar back to the
storage rack in rapid reverse, where it is deposited separately
for later re-use after cooling down.

Feed
Rolls |
Two
pairs of feed rolls grip the hot bars coming out of the induction
coils and feed them against the shearing station bar stop in perfect
synchronization with machine operation. |
