Spray
Pipes and Shower Rings |
|
A battery of
spray pipes and shower rings cools punches and dies externally.
A second system cools the feed rolls, shear blade and dies from
the inside. While cooling the dies, the water also washes any scale
out of the die cavities.
Additional nozzles are mounted on the punch flickers that swing
upward on the ram's return stroke. They spray the punch noses.
To keep the
forgings hot, the transfer grippers carry guards that prevent cooling
water from splashing on them.

THE
PUNCH FLICKER NOZZLES SWING UP ON THE RAM'S RETURN STROKE AND GIVE
THE PUNCH NOSES A COLD SHOWER.

Adjustable |
There
are over 30 adjustable valves to deliver individually metered flows
to all exposed areas. Every punch, every die, the shear blade, bar
stop, feed rolls -- all receive just the amount of water they need.
No more, no less. This is made possible by the horizontal tool arrangement.
Letting the cooling water run off freely without flooding subsequent
stations and equally important, without fouling them with scale and
other residues. |
|
|
THE
HORIZONTAL ARRANGEMENT IS THE KEY FACTOR ALLOWING PRECISE WATER
METERING FOR EACH STATION. NOT EVEN THE THIRD AND FOURTH STATIONS
RECEIVE ANY MORE WATER THAN THEY NEED.
|
Effective |
A
highly effective cooling system prevents overheating and softening
of the tools. It makes certain that the tools -- and not the forgings
-- are cooled intensively. That's why Hotmatics give you long tool
life. |
