Machine Specifications:

All the things you can make on an AMP 40S

Combination Forgings:

Two different parts made as one forging, and usually separated at the last station. But they can also be separated at the third station, with one part dropping out and the other moving on to the last station for further forming.

Medium-size precision forgings, with no flash, no draft:
Handles parts up to 1.1 kg (2.43 lb) cut-off weight and 85 mm (3.35 in) diameter. They can be up to 85 mm (3.35 in) long.

Even complex shapes -- top-heavy parts, for instance -- are run without tooling gimmicks. Because the individually timed grippers keep even the most complicated parts firmly in hand. And because four forming stations are able to move lots of metal.

Up to 150 parts a minute
In fully automated production, from bar stock to finished forgings in a single pass, 150 parts a minute. And you need only one person at the controls.

Quick-change system makes short runs profitable
The patented HYDROBLOCK quick-change system lets you retool the AMP 40S completely in 20 minutes. Just the thing for short runs.

The AMP 40S at work

Everything is automatic: heat, feed, cut off, form, pierce -- in a single pass. Hot-rolled bars enter at one end, and pierced precision forgings drop out at the other. Up to 150 every minute.

The bar rack feeds bar after bar automatically end-to-end. The bar runs through the bar heater's inductors on conveyor rollers to be heated progressively to forging temperature.

Then the four feed rolls grip the hot bars and pull them step by step into the former. Then they are sheared into multiples and formed to the desired shape at four forming stations. This occurs in closed dies, so there's no flash and no draft.
